Prairie Verbena

Prairie Verbena has been blooming in large clumps all over Kirby Park for the last several weeks. I found this nice landscape shot in between rainstorms yesterday near the boat ramp. I really like the round-top clusters of flowers on these plants. The Spanish name, Moradilla, comes from morado (“purple”) and means “little purple one.” This species is a great early spring nectar source for our pollinators! #DoctorBot #LakeKirby
